Sign this, Sign that

I found out why the old(newest) manager had left. Apparently this person had been playing loosey goosey with our incentive/rewards program. You know, all stores have a card or some sort that they give you for free and it keeps track of your purchases and sometimes gives you points or money back. Corporate keeps track of how many people your store signs up for this program or how many people use their card when they visit. The numbers that they keep track of can affect the upper management bonuses.

So this manager had figured out a way to up our numbers fraudently. That's why the manager "left".

And last month I had a to sign a paper saying, basically, that I wouldn't do the same thing. Sad really, I hadn't even thought to do that sort of thing before that piece of paper, much less come up with ways to do it. Now, because of that piece of paper, there are alls these way I now know how to mess with the programs numbers.

Reminds me of when I was at the ginormous store. Two employees were fired for using customer's gift cards unbeknownst to the customers. The two geniuses who were fired had figured out how to do so without even having the gift card in hand. After they were fired, of course, the gossip flew and I now know how to use other people's gift cards at that store if I were so inclined, which I am not. Not that that really needs to be said.

Also because of working at that store, i know all their holes in their security. Ugh.

So, I had to sign a paper, basically saying I wouldn't commit fraud, right? Then on tuesday I had to sign a paper that basically told me everything that I already knew about working in a bookstore. It was all basic commonsense...like if you see a book out of place, put it back where it goes and if you don't know where it goes, look it up by the ISBN number and then put it back. Yes, one of the directions actually said that. All the directions were that lame. Really, its all about CYA. And I had to sign it.
